Popularity
of the Tea Room
Tea rooms were enormously popular in America in the first half of the
20th century. They became the fashionable place to lunch with friends. They attracted the society elite, who found it
charming
to entertain their guests in a tea room, a baby or wedding shower or a bridesmaids' luncheon might be the
occasion. Tea rooms
specialized in
beautiful salads, dainty sandwiches, delicious desserts and of course a
beautifully prepared pot of tea.
